Wholehearted Healthy Living

What does it mean to live a healthy life? Maybe it is going to the gym a few times a week, eating less, or even cutting out parts of your life that seem unnecessary, such as getting that second glass of wine on vacation. Luckily, there is a way of doing quite the opposite and find a balance to live a ‘full’ lifestyle.

Amy Blandini ‘always knew’ she wanted to work around people and started in the field of Physical Therapy.

She said, “I was super intrigued with making as big a difference as I could which led me to working with patients in the hospital and acute rehab, as these patients had life changing accidents and conditions…my work felt very important.”

She went on explaining that nothing can describe the emotion and impact of watching someone’s first steps after a stroke, accident or brain injury. As time went on her impression of care was not lining up to how healthcare was changing in the work she was partaking in. She knew she could do more. This was the start of her inspiration, Wholehearted Healthy Living.

“I became intrigued with eating and living in a way that is healthier, more sustainable and gives you the best chance for being able live the life you want. Nutrition, healthy movement, our thoughts, stress management and having a balance in our life matters tremendously,” said Amy.

Imagine a life eating healthy whole foods that you love, knowing what you are consuming, and feeling great about doing it in all aspects. We tend to forget that the way we are feeling in general whether it is stress, exhaustion, or even boredom, plays a gigantic factor in a healthy lifestyle. As Amy would put it, ‘health care starts with self-care!’

Amy implemented her start up business in her own life first, to see how she could truly feel ‘whole’ before coaching others on how to do the same.

“As a mother and someone who has always wanted to help and assist others, I neglected to take care of myself for some years and see this as something that is very common. I always heard, but now I fully understand, that the better you are individually, the better you are for others,” said Amy.

This truly delegated her commitment and consideration to potential clients. To be able to come through and be honest on how her individual and personal story of growth and well-being thrived, she is able to have a relatable and connected approach to those who could be feeling similar. She is also thrilled to find a positive and sustainable reaction to the environment implementing a lifestyle great for the planet!

One part of her business that really stands out is her emphasis on working with a personal trainer versus a health coach. Amy wanted to make sure the focus on being a health coach is accentuated differently than personal trainer in case recipients were interested in getting involved. She made a great point in mentioning personal trainers are mostly focused on psychical exercise and workout regimes to help ‘train you’. A personal trainer may be great in getting you into shape, but you want to make sure that he or she is certified or licensed in nutrition, before taking nutritional advice.

“A certified health coach focuses on nutrition and lifestyle and is basically a master of habit change. They assist clients in not only figuring out the best foods for that individual but help address why and how they ear and assist them in creating healthy habits that last,” said Amy.

One part of explaining Amy’s role is her approach on being an ‘ally’ during the pursuit of overall health and wellness. Her coaching with stress reduction, managing blood sugar, promoting healthier thinking patterns and accessing what other areas of their life are calling for attention, and how to create balance make it the perfect option for positivity and uplifting living.

An example of a client that she was able to impact drastically started with a gentleman, (who will remain unnamed) needing to lower his cholesterol and sugar before his next appointment or else he would have to be put on medication. Tasks included; phasing in healthier fats, adding in more whole and natural foods, and finding healthier movement that promoted stress relief. The coaching allowed him the power to treat himself.

The lab results were amazing. His cholesterol lowered 40 points and his sugar and triglycerides were in the normal change. On top of that, a liver lab even showed a deduction of 40 points as well.

“His MD was amazed and he avoided needing medication,” said Amy.

Amy is aware if current statistics in health and they are alarming. She states that we are in a ‘health crisis’ due to us having the highest incidents of obesity, medicated, addicted and general unhealthy individuals in U.S. history. Amy could not help but pun on the saying, ‘you are what you eat.’

Her business is beginning to strive and her outlook on life is impeccable. She pushes, that if you want things to be different, then you need to do things differently. Words she loves to live by are from a quote by Greek physician, Hippocrates, that she keeps as her mantra.

Let food be thy medicine and let medicine be thy food.”

Personally, this is something I could live by.
